I got my cartilage pierced 8 years ago with a piercing gun(Yes, I know worse thing I could've done!!) I have a hard time finding earrings that are comfortable. I can only wear 14kt gold and I cannot wear any earring that has the post exposed(They dig into my head when I sleep) I was thinking of looking for other body jewelry to fit it and of course they are in gauge sizes. I tried calling the place I had it pierced and all they can tell me is that it is standard earring size. My question is what gauge is a cartilage piercing and can I get other body jewelry to fit in it without stretching it?? Thanks

  1. 16 gauge

  2. I can assure you its not a 16 gauge like others are saying since you have gotten it pierced with a piercing gun. Usually when the cartilage is pierced with a piercing gun, the stud is a regular ear stud meaning the gauge is a 20G which is the smallest. If it were done by a pro piercer using a hollow needle than the guage would have been a 16G. Go to a piercing shop that sells body jewelry or a store that sells a variety of body jewelry such as Spencer's & Hot Topic they have CBR 's that are 20G, CBR's are usually much more comfortable for cartilage piercings. Good Luck.

  3. It's most likely 18g or 20g. There's not much difference between the two.
