I am installing about 1500 RMS watts of system with 2 amps...I am going to run a single power wire from the battery and use a distribution block...Should I use 4 gauge, 2 gauge, or 0 gauge...People say 0 is too much and some say 4 is fine while others say it isn't enough..

Any thoughts

  1. No such thing as too much.  It's far better to go overkill on the wire gauge then to not be thick enough.  Just keep in mind that the voltage drops over a long wire run.  Go with the 1/0 gauge to the block, followed by 4 gauge to both amps.  Give your amps the power they crave, because starving them of power doesn't do you much good.

  4. I would run 0 to the block, and then 4 out of it to the amps.

  5. You should go with the 0 gauge to the distribution block.  It really depends on what kind of amps you are actually using.  There are amps out there that say they are 1500 watts yet in actuality only push out 3-500 amps, it depends on what the fuses in the amp are. Basically you want a power wire in which you can match up the fuses in the amps you are using.  You want the fuse under the hood to match what the total sum of the fuse ratings on the two amps.  If that total is over 80 I would recommend 0 gauge wire.
