  1. a growing trans-atlantic market

  2. Thomas Andrews was in charge of the design department of Harland & Wolff Shipbuilders and had already led his department in the design of the Adriatic, Oceanic and Olympic.

The Olympic was the Class leader and sister ship of the Titanic and Britannic, all three built for the White Star line by Harland & Wolff to basically the same design, with minor modifications.

Thomas Andrews designed the Olymic to meet The White Star Line specifications for a new Transatlantic Liner and then copied the design for the Titanic and Britannic to fill the order for three ships.

  3. I don't know, but I wish someone would get the idea to build Titanic II for the upcoming centennial. The QM2 could use a sister ship.

  4. was it really his idea to build the titanic or was he asked to do it ?
