  1. No, I don't think that's true. They'll be more concerned about your A-level results (where you will need all As) and it is down to the interview a lot.

Having impressive GCSE results will help you though, if they're considering two different people who are equally qualified and they have to choose between the two, but someone has Bs at GCSE and someone else has As, who do you think they will go with?

  2. The first thing they will look at is your A-Levels so get A's and A*s in your GCSE's so that you will be able to do the A-Levels you want.

Make sure you work hard in your GCSE's cos the entry list into Oxford is long, and they would rather pick someone with great A-Levels as well as GCSE's than someone who muffed it up big time in KS4 and tried to make up for it in Sixth Form!

One last thing is that top universities like Oxford aren't just looking for someone who does nothing but study, they are looking for someone who can balance extra-curricular activities as well. Try to do stuff that looks impressive, like charity work etc.

Hope you find this useful and good luck!

  3. I believe they focus on your A levels.

They would possibly want very high A levels maybe A's and A*'s only.

    Heres their website:

    http://www.ox.ac.uk/

I would suggest contacting them either by email or by telephone. They would possibly give you all the information you need.

  4. i thought you had to have a levels for uni

  5. i'm sure you'll need the maximum requirement which is 5.

  6. Well its acctually based more on your A-Levels e.g If you wanted to study english and at A-level you have A across the board that is when they would look at your gcse results. The best thing to do is look at the oxford website at what the recommended results are.

  7. they claim it doesn't matter, but what you have said sounds about right i think they do prefer a number of A grades
