  1. no u dont u just need to pass at the least it depend sif you want a really good degree in it, i.e if you want to teach a private school otherwise your fine if you just pass and you need to specialise in a subject then you jus neeed to take a 2 or 1 year teaching course

  2. Not sure why people answer these kinds of questions when they have no idea.

To be a primary school teacher, you DO need GCSEs in English, Maths and Science, also preferably a language - all at C or above. You will not get a job, or onto a degree course in education without these.

A levels - you are best to pick A levels in national curriculum subjects ie English, Maths, History, Science etc. Primary school teachers do not specialise in a certain subject per se, they teach a wide range of subjects to one class.

You will then need to attend university. A number of options are open to you, you need to gain QTS - Qualified Teacher Status, you cannot teach without this.

    Options:

*A three year, full time degree in a national curriculum subject of your choice, and then either a postgraduate degree (PGCE) to gain QTS.  or working in a school participating in a GTP programme to gain your QTS.

*A three year, full time degree in an education subject ie BA(Hons) Primary Education with QTS.

*There are many other options, but the above are the more popular.

Try the TDA website for info.

  3. You will need i think its 5 A-C grades at GCSE to do certain A Levels. I would suggest going to a specific college and doing a Btec National diploma in child care or social care as this will help you do a specific degree in primary school teaching.

    Hope i helped

  5. There are two methods to get into teaching.

1 is to do a teaching degree.  I'm not sure what A-levels you need you would have to look at each university propectus or go to their website to find out.

2 is to do a degree in something you really enjoy and then do a PGCE.  A PGCE is intensive and hard work but you will have two qualifications and it only takes 1 more year than a teaching degree.  If you do a PGCE then you can pretty much do any degree and go into teaching.  If you want to boost your employment chances as a teacher then something like child phycology is a good choice and you'll might find you earn more money.

One of my friends did a teaching degree and found it caused problems for her when she was working as the people with PGCE's were given priority for courses and promotions.  Lot's of my other friends did a degree then PGCE, (with funding) and said they were glad they did the degree first as it gave them more choice and that they knew if they struggled to get a job taeching they could fall back on their degree.

  6. It doesn't really matter about specific subjects, but you should have at least a C in maths, English and science. You don't really have to take anything specific at A level. At university you can either start straight away on a teaching course which leads to a teaching qualification or you can do another degree and then do a PGCE (postgraduate certificate of education).

  7. You need science, maths and English at C grade at least in your GCSEs. Although it might be seen favourably to do these three subjects at A level, I don't think it is that important as you will cover these subjects in your teacher training degree. Check out the requirements of a few different universities to see what the general expectations are r.e. grades and subjects

  8. it doesnt really matter about gcse, just make sure you have the right grades say 5 C's or above to enter sixth form, then take a course such as child develoment. if your sure thats what you want to do, you can get an nvq in childcare its not much, but it will help you become a teacher. english is agood thing to take at alevel, so is maths.
