What gender is best for my female beagle mix with boston terrier?

i work at a pet store and to be honest, gender doesnt usually have anything to do with it, its more of the personality of each dog. i would just bring your dog with you to visit another dog your are considering before acutally getting it.

I'm supposing that if your dog is friendly, she would get along with any gender of dog.

female or male really, but maybe female might be the better option, but its more to do with the personailty of the actual dogs itself.

not too shy not to over the top, go by your dogs own personality.

is he outgoing? then a nice outgoing but not over the top friend for him.

shy? then a middle of tghe road pup not too shy.

it is easy to introduce pups to a family home, a adult dog in his 'home' can cause problems so the pup is  the safer bet.

A desexed male companion is the lowest risk option.

Some other things to keep in mind:

- A companion who is between 2 - 4 years older or younger would be best.

- A companion who is slightly different in temperament is best, ie: a dog who is dominant would do best with a less dominant dog, a dog who is anxious would do best with a calmer dog

- A companion who likes to play in a similar way is best, ie: 2 dogs who like to play chase, 2 dogs who like to wrestle, 2 dogs who don't play much but just hang out

- An adult companion who has lived with other dogs successfully or a pup who has been appropriately socialised is best.

- It is ALWAYS best to introduce your dog to the new dog BEFORE making a decision, if you are not quite sure, bring them together a second or third time before finalising your choice, always do this on neutral territory and give them plenty of time to get used to each other.
