I have 3 neutered males at home. I'm looking to add a new kitten and my boyfriend says it should be a neutered male kitten. I think it should be a female. what would be better to introduce to 3 young adult boys? another boy? or a girl? please consider lots of factors in helping me... i dont want to pick the wrong gender.

  1. Male cats make better pets and are more loving than females. If you are looking for a cat to kill mice and hunt, the female is your best choice. If you bring a female into the mix of boys there is likely to be fights over who gets to be with her. (even if they are fixed) The female is also more likely to be noisy especially when they go into heat. ( No one will sleep in that house) Also, getting a female 'fixed" is a more invasive surgery and more costly. Stick to the guys, they have always made great pets for me.

  2. An adult neutered or spayed cat tend to be more accepting of a kitten of the opposite s*x.

    So, get a girl.....

  3. Anything that is spayed or nuetered is fine.

  4. either gender is fine. they will adjust to either in their own way. it also depends on the cats temperament, as to how they take to a new member of your family. we have 5 males and 2 females and although it took a while they all adjusted to each other in their own terms. the question should be what you and your boyfriend want to get. your other kitties will love it just as much as you do.  good luck.

  5. actually you are best off to pick one of similar age to  yours.. mostly because kittens need kitten food and adults need adult food and cats need to nibble food throughout the day..

also 3 big boys can easily hurt a kitten

over all a female is SLIGHTLY less hard.. only because they are not as apt to spray.. but the differense is minute..

if your boys are fixed then they wont care..

read this link on introducing a new kitty

it has lots of valuable points that will help you decide.

  6. I'm a neutered male & I get along better with male cats, but only neutered ones. The toms (the ones with balls) are too snooty and they like to punch me and sometimes they mistake me for a girl cat.

I don't get along very well with females because they are too domineering and like to be the boss of everything.

  7. Female cats, they tend to be less dominant =)

  8. I would pick a neutered male kitten.  Females tend to be more moody and don't like to "share" as well.  Males tend to be more friendly .. once they've been neutered anyway.  Otherwise, they are territorial (if not fixed).

  9. A female i think :D

Would be nice  u aswell.. u wouldn be living with  males no more ;) lmao
