  1. both genders ..

typically geldings (neutered males) are calmer and are better for beginner riders. but the more advanced a person gets, the gender of horse doesnt really matter. thats hypothetically speaking though, in reality its all preference.

but i can see where your question is coming from if you arent familiar with horses and riding. i mean arent you only allowed to hunt adult male deer, and stuff?<<

    its not a dumb question

  2. well i personally prefer geldings cause they are quieter and easier to keep. stallions are fiery and can go crazy over the mares in the season and mares go crazy too in season so yeah.

but generally you can ride all genders

  3. I own a gelding but leased a mare for 3 years

  4. lol yes you can ride both male and female i ride a mare which is a female a male is called a stallion unless it has been sniped then its a gelding . Mares tend to get moody so some people recommend geldings  personally i like the mares better but each to their own all horses can have off days well hope that helped

  5. yes

you can ride mares, geldings, and stalions

  6. You can ride both, but I would reccomend a gelding (fixed male horse). They have easier temperments, usually. Mares are pretty good, too, but they have their mood swings. And stallions are real iffy....

  7. There are three distinctions of horse genders, a mare which is a female, a stallion which is an unaltered male, and a gelding which is a male that has been altered and unable to reproduce anymore. People ride all three. I prefer geldings though, mares can get a bit uppity when they are in heat, and are generally a bit on the testy side, though I have met some really nice mares. Stallions can be pretty wild, they are usually the alpha horse which makes them very dominant and difficult to train because they don't usually want to listen to other people. Also, if a mare is in heat anywhere near them they will be nearly impossible to control. Geldings are usually pretty chill, easy going, and relaxed, though it does depend on when the male got gelded (or fixed). It can take up to a year for the hormones that make a horse act like a stallion to leave the horse's body.

  8. It doesnt really matter on the gender. Coinsidentally -ya i spelt that wrong- when i jump i ride guy's and when i do flat work i ride girls.

  9. yes, they ride both genders.

  10. You can ride all three. Mares are female horses and are great but can get frisky when in heat.  Geldings are castrated males, and are generally quite docile.  A stallion is an intact male, and while you can ride them, and they can be great animals, they have a tendancy to have some bad behaviors if not trained properly (i.e. biting, interest in females, aggression towards other horses and people). Hope this helps.

  11. Both!  You can ride mares, geldings, and even stallions.  Since you don't know anything about horses, mares are girls and geldings and stallions are boys.  There are different types of saddles you can use(or no saddle at all).  There are different styles of riding(english and western) and then there are different events you can specialize in(dressage, racking, hunter jumper, barrel racing, etc.).  There's a whole world of riding out there--

  12. Both genders are ridden, although different people have different preferences. A riding school, for example, is not likely to put a novice rider on a stallion

  13. You can ride both.  There are actually sort of 3 "genders" of horse, mare (female), stallion (non-castrated, breedable male), and gelding (castrated, sterile male).  Geldings are typically the easiest to handle because they lack the hormones that can affect mares and stallions.

  14. Both.  I have three geldings and three mares that I ride, out of eight horses total.  The other two are a 2 month old filly and a mare with a club hoof.

  15. My aunt has a horse, it's a female and she rides it.

  16. i prefer boys to the girls..just like with humans i prefer boys to girls haha...**joke

    i like riding geldings

all my  pets actuallyare boys!.. my dogs..and my horses..and cat haha i am the only female...weird i just realized

  17. omg!!!! how stupid do people get! of course you can ride both. you are very stupid

  18. they ride both

  19. I ride all three

Haha  Horse Whispa is right  but I didn't want to confuse anyone as I thought my answer was going to confuse alot of people as it was.

And may I also add that my stallion is quieter to ride than both my gelding and my mare and he gets along with other horses just fine.

    Cheers

  20. Haha Sam is right, there are three types (well, there are more, but those get complicated).

    -Mares (females)

-Geldings (neutered males = no balls, period)

    -Stallion (males = with balls)

  21. Both male {stallion, or gelding] and female.

  22. you can ride all three... mares, stallions, and geldings... but i would choose either mares or geldings... stallions can be touchy to me...
