  1. Popular opinion?  Don't worry about what others think.  Generations are not like a passing of the baton....other generations influence ours.  Everything around us influenced our generation.  If previous generations have negative opinions about us, then maybe they should look at their own generation instead of ours so much.

  2. I think people commonly think your generation is self-obsessed and undereducated.  BUT those things are not your fault, in my opinion.  They are the result of several things out of your control  - - like a real downturn in parenting standards in the last half-century, a breakdown of our educational system, a breakdown in spiritual support systems in society, and the lazy lives of luxury that we in former generations willingly built for you  (and now we complain that you are spoiled!).

I really fear that there are some difficult forces building in the world - and your generation will have to grow up in very difficult ways, whether you like it or not.   It will be forced upon you.  It's too bad we shirked our responsibility to better prepare you for hardships ahead...

  3. Your a part of Generation Y, also known as the generation of entitlement.  Generally speaking this generation is described as having a sense of being entitled to everything they get wheather its at the workplace, school, or in any number of situations.  Part of this sense of entitlement comes from parents who have heeped rewards and goodies upon their children of this generation a-plenty and than make excuses or find someone else to blame when things go wrong.

This generation has given rise to the "helicoptor parent"  who are hyper invovled in everything their child does even as now most of the generation is in college or entering the workforce.  Parents have been known to contact professors regarding their kids grades or even show up with their child on their behalf at career fairs or job interviews.

Generation Y can also be described as lazy but that laziness or unwilling to work attitude is often a misdiagnosed form of a generation that doesnt nessacarily fall in line to whats expected.  They tend to question things more and are more shrewd that getting ahead doesnt always mean working hard but working smarter.

Again this is generally speaking.  My parents werent anything like that and I had to work for everything I got but I do know many people of the generation that do fit that bill.  Basically, individual results may vary.
