What genres can you play on an Epiphone Les Paul Special II?

I am planning to get one of those because I have been advised away from a Squier Bullet Strat with my many questions about guitars XD.

Im into Avril Lavinge, Jonas Brothers, Aly & AJ, Fall Out Boy...you know stuff like that.

I also like a bit f heavy rock but most of all Im gonna concentrate on that type of music.

Is the Epiphone Les Paul type of guitar suited for those type of songs and music?
