  1. It's always going to be a *section* of a circle.  Since your path around the earth's polar axis is a circle, the apparent movement of the sun and stars will be part of a great circle that you are the center of.

    I'm assuming that the fact that you are not at the exact center of the earth is not being considered here.  I'm also guessing that the earth's orbital movement around the sun is also being ignored.  Technically, that would keep the ends of the circle from connecting and the sun's apparent motion would be a tightly wound spiral -- almost a circle..
