What gets better gas mileage an 03 Nissan Xterra or 99 Nissan Pathfinder?

Just wondering which SUV gets more MPG....would any suggest to purchase either of these vehicle? Thanks :o)

I would expect the X-terra to get better milage.  they are both excelent vehicles.

I love xterra's but they are a big on gas. Pathfinder is also a gas pig. Both are roughly the same.

The Exterra comes available in two different engine sizes so it depends on which one you get..  I went ahead and broke it all down for you anyway:

'99 Pathfinder: Manual: 16 mpg / 18 mpg  Automatic: : 15 mpg / 19 mpg

'03 Xterra 2.4L 4cyl:  19 mpg / 24 mpg

'03 Xterra 3.3L V6:  15 mpg / 18 mpg
