What gets out the pet urine smell out of carpet?

I've already tried Resolve carpet cleaner and spraying it with Arm and Hammer Pet deordirizer spray. Please help.

  1. Only enzyme based removers are going to help remove the odor.  And it will take time.  Soak a cloth with the remover and keep it wet.  It will take time for it to soak in and remove the odor.  The smell will get stronger as the remover pulls the odor out.  The other thing I found that works is Mule 21 borox.  It also kills fleas.  Borox must remain in carpet or on floors for 24 to 48 hours before sweeping up.  Good Luck.  I just removed all my carpet.  It is much easier to maintain with pets in the home.


  2. Vinegar works wonders.  Put it in your steam cleaner, either in the clean water, or where the shampoo goes.  It will smell like vinegar for a few days.  I use this on my carpets to neutralize the smell and to just clean.  Vinegar can be used to clean everything.
