  1. You will gain rank faster as active duty.

Reserves (unless you are called to active duty) only pays 4-5 drills per month, so you would get your daily rate of pay times the number of drills per month. Saturday and Sunday usually count as 2 drills each and sometimes you can come in on Friday evening and get credit for a 5th drill. Then you get 14 days during your two week active training,

So you only work 36-48 days per year and you get paid for 48-60 days per year.

If you are active duty you get paid for 365 days per year.

  2. You have to maintain a 9 to 5 job when you are not drilling.

  3. Rank up.... skip the vernacular until you are in as it will sound silly.

  4. Just contact a Recruiter. Or go to marines.com and ask questions through that.
