  1. It's the combination of the high fat of the hot dog with the acid of the tomatoes, and spices and peppers in the chili.

  2. It is the chili. Chili has a base of tomatos, which are full of acid. Excessive acid can trigger heartburn.

  3. Hello That has never occurred for me.

SO,,, I must assume that it is the individuals problem..

  4. I could be the combination, some people don't get heartburn at all.  If you do, eat one and see.  If the hot dog without chili is ok try eating the chili alone....narrow it down and avoid it.

  5. It is both. I suffer from Acid Reflux and both are on the Do not Eat list.

  6. Probably the chili powder in the chili.  It's made from peppers which are bad for heartburn.

  7. Chile is murder for heartburn.

    Though....

Oddly I have found if I use fresh chilies, garlic, and tomatoes and omit the onions, I can sometimes avoid heartburn even with my GERD.

  8. It is the Chili

    1. Chili has tomatoes, high in citric acid making it one of the triggers.

    2. The onion garlic and and ground beef are all pan fried. Fried foods are another trigger food

    3. The ground meat used is not lean. The saturated fat in the ground beef is trigger food

    4. The cayenne pepper and black pepper added are trigger foods. Some Chili sauces also have Cinnamon and cloves, more trigger foods.

In summary there are enough trigger foods in the Chili to cause heartburn
