  1. Relaxation and devotion to a specific purpose lead one to revelation.  Our stress seems to get in the way of our ability to focus and find sloutions to the problems of life.

Relaxation is an ongoing process.  We can certainly help ourselves relax more by learning not to carry stress around with us and by learning to behave in a relaxed manner.  Of course music, meditation, creativity, exercise, healthy diet and mental attitude are all factors which can help us to relax and be more receptive to revelation.  I am a bit concerned because of all the folks around me who crave relaxation but who depend on alcohol or medication to get it without changing their stress-related behavior.  Drugs and alcohol are not long-term solutions to the problem of anxiety.

Our work environment is loaded with stress.  I have been most happy when working as an artist, working in a marine biology lab, or running my own antique business.  Working in the field of mental health was one of the most stressful occupations (you'd think that people in this field would know how to create a healthy work environment, but they don't).  My supervisors always hated seeing me being too relaxed and happy - they wanted me to work more hours or take on a more stressful job, etc....  I felt like I was pressured into being a terrible role-model for my clients (who were generally more relaxed than my co-workers).

The happiest workers I have seen were often people who worked independently and who tended to be spiritually oriented:  they saw work as being a spiritual devotion and often worked long hours,  but seldom looked at the clock.  In fact, they were happiest when working and enjoyed their solitude.  They seemed constantly inspired and often experienced life-altering revelations.

  9. You cannot just have a revelation anytime you'd like. Your best chance of having one is by remaining close to God and if  He wants to reveal understanding to you then it's up to Him. Read the bible and meditate upon the word of God. Maybe then you will get what your looking for. It all depends on whats inside your heart.

  10. Faith on GOD & Meditation.

Well external music isn't a requirement b'coz we have huge inner reserves of Light N Sound.

  11. I really agree with Gene's insight.

For me, personally, gardening or working on a specific project around the house give me that  sense of purpose, focus, and fulfillment that he described  in "happy workers."

Leveling soil or laying a brick path do not immediately seem like ways to find insight, but both are repetitive work that build on themselves while leaving my mind clear to explore.  I was done with the path long before I was finished thinking, so I started scraping the paint on the front porch.  Pulling weeds this morning was similar.  Now on to scraping and painting the trim boards for the eaves around the house, then the back fence.

It should be an interesting philosophical journey, with sand paper and a paint brush.
