My wife and I are entertaining this weekend we are barbecuing Beef Back RIbs. We disagree, however on one particular item to serve with them. I say chili goes best, whereas she prefers barbecue baked beans.

Any ideas?

  1. I would like potato saild and fruit coatail bread pudding with rum sauce .  dont forget to soak the ribs in cataliener dreassing over night.   Don't put the bbq sauce on to soon

  2. Baked Beans with ribs.  Also cole slaw is a winner.

Don't forget plenty of napkins or paper towels.

Better yet do both the chili n' baked beans.  Remember diferent stokes for different folks!  You have a sizable menu, so why not add both items to it.

  3. beans But you have to have cornbread to sop up the juices with.

  4. beans!

  5. thats an awful lot of barbecue going on, why not some potatoes,  cut them into wedges, place them in foil add butter, garlic, a little salt..maybe some chives set them on the top rack of the grill and let them cook til done.

  6. Probably the baked bean. (But don't give her the satisfaction) lol just kidding go with beans.

  7. I agree with your wife:  baked beans.  You need a starch/carb with them, not another meat dish ..... don't forget a green salad or coleslaw

  8. personally both are great !

maybe throw some fries and Cesar salad and yum

    need some more guests?

    hehe

    cheers

  9. I would say baked beans.  Here is my reason behind it.  Chili is usually a main dish and beans are traditional bar b q food.  However, you may want to consider what other sides you are going to serve.  Make sure all the sides, main dish, appetizers, all the flavors compliment each other.  Enjoy your meal.  Maybe you can look for something neither of you have had before and serve that instead.  or a smal amount of both the chili and the beans.  Depending on how many people r going to be there, you may need to serve both!

  10. Tx2step is doing the Texas thing again and assuming that all chili is a meat dish!!

I would have only a tossed green salad with it if it were left to me.

but your wife will get all the credit with her baked beans, also have some cole slaw and or the tossed green salad.
