  1. Lowe's and Home Depot are similar.  Home Depot orientation begins on a Thursday night approx. 6 p.m. and continues through Sunday approx. 5 p.m.  Classes other than Thursday begin at approx. 8 a.m.  To insure you are understanding and paying attention each topic may be followed by a test.

Topics include Lowe's history, mission, policies, and direction.  Levels of management in stores, advancement opportunities, pay issues, reviews, your requirements, benefits and when you qualify, continuing education, etc., are taught.  You have already been assigned your area of employment and provided will be a packet to read and understand within your assigned employment.

SAFETY is "huge" and you will learn how to handle "spills", i.e., paint, chemicals, cleaners, etc., proper positions and "closing off" of areas during "fork lift" use, anything ALL need to know will be taught.

Your first day at a store a manager will help with orientation there as well.  Know and understand other continuing education requirements, i.e., cash register, manuals to read and test, etc.

DO NOT be late for a class.  The instructor will establish a "time", approx. 20 minutes after class starts, he will accept you in the class for that session.  If you miss or tardy you will have to make that part of the class up next orientation before going to work at the store, delaying your start, income, benefits, etc.  Next orientation maybe weeks away.

Good Luck, enjoy Lowe's, stay positive.
