  1. Check the want ads buy a used set of proline clubs, Wilson Fat shafts, Cobra, Callaway, Adams, or Cleveland are good places to start.  You will end up with a good set of clubs at a reasonable price and as your game progresses then step into some clubs that may suit you better.  But start with something used and reasonably priced.  Can't beat good equipment.

  2. go to any golf shop, to there recycled clubs and find a woman's 5 iron..that is the easiest club to hit...once you have mastered that club, then go buy a set somewhere, even WalMart..but do not buy any other club then a 5 iron to start..

  3. I would go to a golf retailer and try some out, most stores have a hitting area and are very glad to help you. Some stores you might check out are golf USA, golf galaxy, golfsmith, or d**k's sporting goods.

  4. i would suggest going to your nearest golf gallaxy or local golf store, and ask them when their next demo day would be.  almost every brand will be there, so try them out.  its free and easy, they supply infomation about each club.  then buy the set you like from ebay or a pre owned set.  i would also suggest getting lessons from a local pro at a country club.

  5. See if you can borrow a set. Most golfers have extra clubs in their garage or shed. You don't want to spend that kind of money before finding out if you like the sport.

Otherwise, watch the classifieds for garage sales or go to the local recycle-reuse center. I've seen full sets of decent clubs for fifteen or twenty dollars. Take an experienced golfer with you to help you evaluate the equipment.

Once you determine whether or not you like the sport, go to a well stocked pro shop and get fitted.

  6. You can go to any golf store or range and try out different clubs.  The clubs at the range are usually older models so they are good to just figure out what to do.

  7. Get yourself a used 7 iron. This is a good club to start with.

Go to a golf shop or pro shop and ask for a game improvement used 7 iron, with a grip that is in good shape. This will allow you to participate in the class without purchasing a full set. Find out if you really like the game first.

    Best of luck.

  8. Walmart or target. spend around 110. This will get you started cheap until you see if you want to continue playing

  9. Are you talking about just one club or what type of set you should get?  If you are just alking about one club, and you want to improve your game with this club, get a putter.  I know it sounds boring, but the putter is the most important club in your bag.  Get good with it and you will be ahead of the curve no matter who you play with.  For a golf class, I assume that you will be out on the range.  I would go with the seven iron.  It is pretty easy to hit, has enough loft so your shots will get some air under them, and is long enough to develop good swing habits that will apply to all of your clubs, long and short.

If you are talking about what type of set to get, there are tons of beginner ladies sets out there for pretty cheap.  Its a matter of what appeals to you when you look at the club, how comfortable the club feels in your hands, and that the shafts and lofts are geared toward the beginning golfer.  Lots of others on here will tell you to go get fitted and what not, but if you have never held a club before, try to get a feel for the game before you go out and spend a bunch of money on top-end clubs and custom club fitting.  Get yourself a club, go swing it, hit some balls, and see if the game appeals to you.
