What good health care insurance is there to have when studying in Italy or abroad coming from the US?

To answer Robertina's question, I am planning on stayin there for 3 to 8 months for school, but if I like it I am going to try and stay. I also hold an EU passport but have not lived in Germany since I was a teenager.
