Question:

What good is my diet and lifestyle doing? ?

I'm starting to think I'm being fanatical about my diet as I try to make everything Mediterranean style, as I'm always eating oily fish, garlic, olive oil, olives and vegetables.

Just for my breakfast which most people might think is gross, I had wholemeal bread with my own tapenade I made. I mixed black and green olives with garlic, capers, virgin olive oil, herbs, sun dried tomatoes, tomato paste and put it all in a blender to make my tapenade, then I grilled it with low fat cheese on the top.

Is this diet really doing me good and if so, what is it doing for me? Or would it make no difference if I had more junk food and fried breakfasts?

If I have fish, I usually just eat it with baked beans in tomato sauce, as the thought of all the oil in the chips makes me feel sick.

I do occasionally have a really small fillet steak for the iron too.

I'm not fanatical about my weight, because I figured that as long as I'm strong and healthy then I will look good and I don't need to be skinny.

I go to the gym a few times a week.

I imagine that all these things will be doing my body good, but I'm not sure what?

  1. I think you need more fresh fruit and vegetables, then the odd bit of tasty ordinary cheese wouldn't hurt.

Chicken or turkey would be a good addition, have it and your fish with steamed vegetables, go easy on salty things.

Don't waste your money on crank health foods, a good balanced diet is adequate.

Junk food for breakfast? No!  Your wholemeal bread, maybe with a boiled egg, wholegrain cereals with semi-skimmed milk, oatmeal in winter with a little honey.  Have some pumpkin and sesame seeds in your salads, grate a brazil nut or two into salads as well.
