For me i got into Nascar when i went out to get a new video game for my PS2. i was bored with games i already had. i wantes a video game that had cars and they crashed a lot. i went to GameStop and got Nascar Chase For the Cup 2005. i got home, i played the video game and i had fun playing the video game. it was the Martinsville track i raced on that got me hooked in Nascar. i remember spining one car out. i came back around and there was a pile-up of cars, that crashed into the car i spun out. i remember after playing the game i decided i should watch a real Nascar race. it was the Talladega race in 2006, the one where Brian Vickers spun Jimmie Johnson out and won that day http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VY04LHq2ZOw&feature=related . i've been hooked on nascar ever since, and i haven't looked back since.

  1. I've watched Stock car racing since the late seventies. Me, my brother and cousins would watch the IROC series Z28 Camaros and pick our favourite drivers. Then we would race our AFX scale racers and pretend we were them as well. My dad owned several muscle cars, but his 76 Malibu Classic reminded us of the Chevy Lagunas used in NASCAR. I'm more a favourite of the older race cars(pre-90's), but i like how the COT cars look more like sedans than last years and the Nationwide series car profiles.

  2. Let's see... watching the 2000 DieHard 500 at Talladega watching Earnhardt show the boys how it's done. I already knew somewhat of Jeff Gordon, so I sort of rooted for him. After Earnhardt passed away I somehow instantly jumped on the Gordon fanbase. Somehow 3 titles just rang to me. And boy, 2001 was a great year to be a Gordon fan. He won the darn title, for goodness sake! So I've been a fan since 01. I can't recall the "glory" days of the 70's and 80's,  because I'm not old enough, but what history's been made these past several years are good enough for me.

  3. My dad's been a fan since about 1994, so I've been a fan since I was  around 2, in 1996. Dale Earnhardt was my favorite to watch.  I play the Nascar games, not to much anymore, though. Up until about '04 or '05 you could race as 3, now you can't so I usually play Need for speed.

  4. Wow, that's a weird way to get into NASCAR. For me it was my dad. He was a racing fan and I've loved it as long as I can remember too. One of my earliest memories was watching Richard Petty flip at Daytona in '88 or '89. I've played racing "games" before there were racing video games, taking my matchbox cars and racing them on the floor in a makeshift circle. If you really want to get hooked go to some races whether it's NASCAR or your local track. The local short tracks provide some of the most exciting racing you'll see.

  5. It was back in 03, I was over at a friends house with my brother. Everyone was watching the race, they were actually racing at the Glen, so the first race I ever watched was at a road course. Anyway, after a while I started to get interested in it and was interested in 4 different drivers: Both orange cars (the #20 of Stewart and #31 of who I am pretty sure was Robby at the time), the rainbow colored car (yes, Jeff Gordon...) and the black and silver #29 of Kevin Harvick. I just so happened to ask everyone who drove the black car first and they said Harvick. I asked if anyone liked him and they all said no, so I said well I do lol. After that I watched the races on and off up until Bristol of 05 where I watched Harvick drive all the way up from 43rd to win the race and ever since then I've been hooked and now watch all 3 series whenever I can regardless of who is racing in them.

  6. me being a mexican I hung around with a bunch of redneck buddies of mine who dragged me to go see a movie called "Days of Thunder", I told em I don't wanna see a "stupid" movie with a bunch of idiots driving around in circles LOL needless to say I got hooked and then i saw a Miller Genuine Draft commercial with Rusty in it and said, "that's my driver" so that's who I became a Rusty  & NASCAR fan, when he retired I stayed with the Blue Deuce & although I didn't like Kurt before he grew on me. Even though he's not making the Chase this year I watch with lost hope LOL

  7. 1983 Bristol. I was 6 years old and went with my Dad. Thought it was the coolest thing I had ever saw. Now my 8year old son and I go to Martinsville every chance we get. Go #43!

  8. I used to be fan for over 25 years.  But then I found out that it is rigged and is no longer driver against driver and auto crew against auto crew.

  9. i was home sick and i was watching tv.  i live in florida and the race called datonya 500 was on and it was just beginning.  this was in february 2007.  i just fell in love with the energy of the race, crowd, cars, drivers.  the end was amazing to and the pit crews working with the drivers, etc.. so i ended up liking it and watching every race that season.  then in the off season i learned everything there was to learn i could about nascar and the drivers for 2008 while learning about the history and the cars, etc.  I fall more in love with it by the week and dont think ill stop.

  10. SInce I was old enough to remember. I've grown up around it (from my mom's side) Her whole family is obsessed...and so am I. My fiance wasn't into racing at all until my mom and I started taking him to local dirt tracks. Now he's in it too. We have even dedicated a room in our house to nascar...small cars big cars...posters...anything nascar!

  11. Well my grandfather, grandmother, mom, & uncle have always watched it. In 1998 I had an English teacher who was a Earnhardt Sr fan. She even had a poster of him on her wall in the classroom. So, I started half-way watching to see where he would finish & to try to judge my teachers mood on Monday.

I started buying Rusty Wallace shirts because he was sponsered by Miller Lite & I could wear the shirt to school. Plus he drove for Ford & my entire family pulls for Ford drivers. Of course I, being the rebel in the family, still followed Rusty when he went to Dodge. My uncle was really ticked.

But, I've been hooked ever since that year. I'm now more hooked that the rest of my family. In fact I am the reason we have been to 8 races since Oct 2005. I am the reason my mom drove 1100 miles, 1 way, to Homestead in 2006, for the final race of the season. My family has created an addict & now they have to live with me ;)  .

  12. I grew up watching NASCAR, it's a tradition in my family that every race we all get in the living room and watch it together. I look forward to it all week. My dad is a gigantic Nascar fan and so are my brothers not having any other girls in the family besides me i did what the boys did and that was watch sports and play video games. The funny thing is that i have a way bigger passion for the sport than any of the boys in my family, I Love It!!!!!

  13. I became a fan once I was hit by lightning and became retarded.  I love NASCAR yaaaay!  Dale Jr. is my hero and he drives fast and never wins yaaaay!  I went to a race and Momma let me bring two of my friends yaaay!

  14. I got into nascar because I started dating a nascar fan.  That was just about 4 years ago.  I got sick of the guy, but not the sport.

  15. I got to meet Dale Sr. before I even knew who he was.    He was such that I decided to check out NASCAR just to see who it was I met.

    Been a fan ever since.

  16. Gorwing up in a Race Track Town (Brooklyn, Michigan), either you hate NASCAR, or you love it.  I loved it from day one (Cale Yarborough!!)  - it's amazing to me to see these guys on TV, and then see them sitting in the local pizza shop scarfing down slices of pepperoni and extra cheese just like any of the rest of us.

NASCAR has just always felt like 'home" to me!
