I am in the 11th grade. I am 1 credit behind but i will get caught up quick and won't have to come all day everyday next year. Because i go to an alternative high school. So how old or what grade do you need to be in to take the ACT? And how do i get more info on taking it?

  1. you can take it in 10 or 11. i never took it because i took the SAT.

  2. You don't need to be in any grade. You should take it your junior year of high school. You can take it up to 3 times and the colleges will take the best score of out the three. It does cost to take it and it is only given on certain dates and places. check out web site below

colleges will accept either the ACT or SAT now. My daughter only took the ACT and has no trouble with applying to any college. No college requires both

  3. You're at the right age to take it. Find out more at www.act.org. My understanding is that although the ACT and SAT are different, most people will score similarly on them--that is, fall within the same percentile. Also, most colleges will accept either one, but be sure to check.

The ACT is probably more aligned to what you learned in school than the SAT, but that doesn't make it a "better" or "easier" test. You can see sample questions from either test on the websites or from available study guides.
