  1. The type of grass used for fairways and greens depends mostly on the section of the country, the climate and climate changes, the rainfall and available irrigation. In the high altitudes around Denver, the greens are poa ana which is a nuisance grass in New England. Through the southern states the Bermuda grass strains are the norm while the creeping bent and other bent varieties are  used throughout the rest of the country.

  2. Depends on your climate and geography.

In warmer climates, bermuda does very well in hot conditions; it's heat tolerant but will go dormant when it gets cold.

Bentgrass is better in northern climates; it doesn't do that well in very hot/arid conditions (you have to keep it moist), but otherwise it thrives.

There are numerous hybrids from these.

  3. they use Bermuda mostly.

  4. burmuda

  5. bermuda is very common on golf courses

  6. creeping bent grass and bermuda

  7. I like Bentgrass, Bluegrass, or Bermuda grass for fairways and definitely bentgrass for greens.

  8. It seems the better courses have zoysia fairways and bent grass greens.  However, bentgrass doesn't do well in the heat and high humidity so now a lot of southern courses have gone to a bermuda hybrid for the greens.

  9. bermuda is really good, but not with po ana that grass makes the greens bumpy in the spring to summer, bentgrass is good but if it gets played on too much it gets torn up and worn down
