  1. Why  would you want to plant a flowers where you will be walking? Yes, Ivy and monkey grass are some heavy duty plants but still they won't flourish as nice with out it?

Will grass just not grow there? If you are just wanting a pretty landscaped area where you can still walk, then I would suggest layering it with pine straw and then spruce it up with a statue, fountain, bridbath, gazing ball, ect.

Over time the monkey grass and ivy will get too big to want to walk through.

  2. ivy & monkey grass will servive anything

  3. Try thyme - it smells beautiful when walked on. Regards UK

  4. Dwarf mondo grass. It stays very short, likes a good bit of shade and can be walked on without mesing it up. Ivy will get tangled and will try to climb the trees and monkey grass (liriope) will get too tall. Dwarf mondo also holds up much better than liriope.

Ps.. dwarf mondo will spread though, but it will do so slowly. You might want a border around the bed area.
