  1. Judo.  Judo will give you throws as well as ground game.  After you either plateau in Judo or get a black belt, do Jujitsu.

Be warned:  the grapplers will constantly tell you how you're wasting your time in Taekwondo.  Some of the TKD people will be scared of you because you are also a grappler, or they will tell you grappling is a waste of time, etc.  Some may say that you may mix up the two.

    Both are wrong.

The only caveat:  do not "block" in grappling tournaments or grapple in striking tournaments.  The Taekwondo blocking can bruise grapplers.  Now if that's the effect you're going for, well.....

  2. karate

  3. HAPKIDO

  4. I agree with others that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu would be first choice for ground fighting as a supplement to TKD.

  5. I am assuming from your question that you haven't started Tae Kwon Do yet?

What are your goals in starting a martial art? Are you interested in pursuing MMA (mixed martial arts) in the future? Is there a reason you are particularly interested in Tae Kwon Do?

  6. Maybe judo as the Koreans seem to pair them together.

  7. Brazilian Jiujitsu, or if you can find a place that teaches submission wrestling.

  8. if its for sport then...Bjj :)***

  9. jujitsu

  10. Jujitsu is a good all around choice. The leg strength used in tae kwon do will be beneficial in combination with this discipline. You might also consider greco roman wrestling though the practical applications in fighting are fewer, it's still a great way to train for ground defense.

    Hope that helps.

  11. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is the king of ground grappling. The champion's list from Abu Dhabi is like a who's who of BJJ. It sucks for takedowns, however. It depends what your goals are. For self defense, a striking art combined with submission skills should be adequate to handle 99% of assailants.
