  1. The Acadians. French speakers who wound up migrating down into Louisiana. The term Cajun, referring to French-speaking people around New Orleans comes from "Acadian."

Actually, the forced migrations were complicated. French-speaking people were forced out of Nova Scotia, but also New Brunswick. And it wasn't a straight shot to Louisiana. Some migrated to the Boston area first. Some went overland, some by ship. Some migrated back up into Quebec.

It was a very sad affair.

  2. The Acadians were forced out of their homes in Nova Scotia. They were French and when the British took over that part of Nova Scotia they told the Acadians they either had to go back to France or somewhere else.  The Acadians moved to south Louisiana and their decendants are now called Cajuns. The reason they moved to south Louisiana was because there was still a deep French influence here because of New Orleans and because it was a lot safer to travel there instead of trying to cross the ocean back to France. In time, many Acadians moved back to Canada to Quebec but most stayed in the south.  Hope that helps.

  3. You couldn't find an answer for this anywhere else? They were the Acadians, and they went to Louisiana.
