With all groups that have been targeted I'm surprised no one has yet to say the Americans?

h**l some people will say that Hockey will be in an even worse state if a minority race would take over the sport.

Isn't this sad?

It's Gary Bettman and the front office of the league. The only reason hockey is "ruined" is because of the lockout. The lockout caused all of its money problems because during the lockout hockey lost all of its border line fans. The ones that are entertained by it, but they don't love the game as much as someone like me. this is a horrible question by blaming europeans or russians or jews, it has nothing to do with that.

The people that ruin hockey is ESPN.If they started their telecasts with the NHL alot more people would follow it.They had some GREAT games on ESPN back in the day in fact one of the best games in ESPN's history was the night the Rags beat the Nucks in 94.Bring back ESPN and bring back Gary Thorne.

I think I did hear from someone on this board (LITY?) that Versus had better viewers then when ESPN had it so maybe I don't know anything.

The NHL is a entertainment business and the "Owners" are ruining the game.

I'm sure there are good owners but most are empty business men that back stabbed or had money fall on to them and they bought something.

People blame Bettman but he is just a puppet for these guys he has no say, he is just a face yeah it would help if had some passion or color but in the end he doesn't make or break changes

NOBODY is ruining hockey.

1.  When all is taken ionto account, US television ratings were at their highest ever for regular season games in all markets except NY and LA.  19 of 24 US based teams had record TV audiences.

2.  NHL revenues in both Canada and the US are at their highest ever.

3.  NHL arena attendance set a new record this year with 14 of 24 US based teams establishing, or tying attendance records.

4.  Player contracts are at their highest levels ever (so the players are extremely happy).

Apparently Salty has never been to a game in Nashville... it's the best arena to view a game at in the western conference... it's the best environment with the most passionate fans.

if you think that the nashville is lame just because it's in the south, then grow up and get an education.

For starters I feel Hockey is in a much better situation that it has been. The Mid 90's where a great time for hockey but it fell from grace shortly there after. Just as a racist Devil's fan I blame the Rangers winning the cup in 94(not seriously though just busting).

  In actuality with this new batch of well needed young stars i think Hockey is as strong as when Gretzky went to Hollywood.

The only possible down fail could be the greed of other professional sports. Foe example: A-rod & Jetter make more in a game then most NHLer's make in a year.

The only "group" wrecking hockey is Bettman and some of the current owners who only want money and couldn't care less about the actual hockey.  They expanded for no reason other than expansion fees going straight to their pockets.  They didn't care that the new markets were poor choices or about the shortages in quality players.
