What guage wire do you need for 6 volts and 3 amps if you are using 500 feet of wire?

  1. For a run of 500 feet, to transmit 9 voltamps D/C to do any kind of "work", I believe that the resistance drop of ANY gauge COPPER wire would make the project impractical.  Now, I'm not all that familiar with the resistance drop of some of the newer metals used in electronics.  Someone else might be able to help you out better on that.


  2. This link will give you the voltage drop by wire gauge. Just plug in the values for current and length. It all depends on how much voltage drop you can tolerate.
