  1. I have a Russian Dwarf and he is the friendliest thing ever. He sits on my shoulder when I walk about and I trained him to stand up and come to me when I say his name x x x

  2. Dwarf hamsters are the nicest don't get a winter white hamster. Those are the mean types. Hope I helped

  3. a dwarf hamster is the most social breed of hamster, and since you would like a friendly breed, i think you should go for one of these. hamsters for the most part can be friendly if socialized correctly, but some are just naturally more friendly then others. why not just go to a petco and buy which ever kind you like best there?

  4. i would get Syrian hamster

  5. I would get a long haired Syrian.  They are so cute.  and come in all sorts of colors.

  6. Well since you're looking for grooming I would suggest a teddy bear hamster.  They are usually golden brown in color and have fur that grows really long. They do get kinda big, but it makes them easier to hold when handling or brushing them. Just remember to pick up some specialized hamster brushes and combs from the pet shop. Good luck.

  7. Short haired Syrian hamsters are so cute!!!

  8. Well, when I got a hamster I first went with a russian dwarf and it was hard to get accustomed to human interaction and would often bite. I was told by the pet store when I returned it that this breed can be very hard to handle at times and is often very aggressive.

So I then got a Dalmation Hamster. Very cute, loved to be held, would go to the door of the cage and wait for me to take it out and play with it. He was the sweetest thing ever. Broke my heart when he passed. But I don't regret exchanging the russian for him! Get a dalmation hamster...it'll steal your heart! :)

  9. i recently brought chinese dwarg hamsters.

they're the gray coloured ones with the dorsal stripe.

as the name suggests they;re smaller than the more common golden/syrian.

and they can run faster too so they're harder to catch.

dwarfs have been kept as pets for shorter amounts of time so they need to be handled more to keep tame whereas syrians once tame are tame 4 life.

as well the chinese can live in groups of females. where as the male should live solely because of fighting when they become old enough to breed.

otherwise theres not really any difference.

    hope this helps

  10. Get a Syrian they are much easier to handle and I personally think they are much nicer. I have a Syrian and have looked after a friends dwarf hamsters and like my Syrian much better. Dwarf ones are like mice with no tails but Syrians are proper hamsters!!

  11. Syrian hamsters are the best hamsters for sitting in your hand and being inquisitive, yet happy. They are easy to please and great fun.

They are also not as fast as the other breeds

they are said to be the best for children, and I agree. i have had hamsters all my life

....And every single one was a syrian!!

  12. a hamster's a hamster!

  13. definitely a syrian.

these are the biggest hamsters and when you think of the word "hamster" one of these will come to mind, not the tiny russians or dwarfs or chinese. syrians are the most friendly breed towards humans, but the least friendly towards other hamsters, so if you were planning on keeping two in the same cage then maybe you ought to reconsider. they come in many varieties of colour. they are good climbers and will be able to use pretty much any access tubes that may come with a cage you buy, as opposed to the roboroskis where they can be too small.

then you have to choose what gender: the two have different personality traits and charactaristics.

males are often more friendly and sociable, however they tend to make their cage smellier quicker as they "spray" their pee to mark their territory.

females are not quite as friendly and more easily scared, hence likely to defend themselves by biting. however they are much more sanitary than the males and their cage will take longer to smell.

so to conclude, i would recommend to you a male syrian. according to your question you love to groom them, so hopefully this means you have the time to clean the cage if necessary (I would buy a clear plastic one as opposed to bars as they will spray the walls of their cage, and these are easier to clean anyway)! I have a male black syrian and he is the most lovely thing ever, I can honestly claim that he has never bitten anyone, he has a fantastic temperament and is always coming out to sit on the roof of his bed to watch my daily activities.

good luck and enjoy owning a hamster!

  14. A syrian, they are the most social, but beware they will bite if they get scared, make sure you don't try and hold it straight away!

Syrians are also known as goldens and teddy bear hamsters, they are the biggest breed of hamster and are usually quite docile, they have to be kept single though.

Also they are probably the easiest to tame!

  15. maybe a teddy bear hamster? just go 2 your local petstore and im sure theyll let u play with some of the hamsters and that way you'll know u actually like the hamster ur buying

  16. Syrian hamsters are extremely friendly to humans i had one for two years and it never once bit or nipped at me

if you like to groom i would get a long haired syrian

just make sure you don't put more than one syrian hamster in a cage they will fight they are people friendly but not so kind to other hamsters

  17. A good breed that has long hair is a syrian. The type of hamster you could get is a teddy bear hamster. They are a syrian hamster.

  18. golden hamster
