What hamster should i get

Question

i dont know what breed of hamster to get or i had a hamster before a golden hamster and she was very fat but i loved her sadly she passed away but she was a year old as i got her from a dodgy pet shop so she only lasted 2 more years after that i dont know whether to get a smaller one or a big one or what breed????

Get a fancy bear female.  They are really friendly.  I had a short hair and a teddy bear and they both bit me.  Dwarfs are really nasty too.  My fancy bear has never bitten me.  She has a great temperament.

Well it all depends on what you would be comfortable with, Dwarf hamsters are very very tiny, and since you had a fat hamster you probably wouldnt want one that you would worry about hurting for it being so tiny. Teddy bear hamsters are larger, some are fat and some are just big. So my suggestion would be a teddy bear hamster since its easier to hold and pet and play with. So I would say go with a bigger sized one so its easier for you to be happy with. Also, a hamster's life span is only about two years. Be careful when adopting one thats already a couple years old because it might not last that long. However my teddy bear hamster is fat and shes already two years old, I adopted her and shes doing fine. My last teddy bear hamster lasted about two years before he passed, so you should also go with a teddy bear hamster because of life span. For the cage, you could buy any cage for a hamster, it doesnt matter what breed it is. Just a fish tank with a wheel and a house and some woodchips with food and water would be fine for any hamster, just like they do at the pet stores.

Get a Roborovski hamster. i have 2 and they are the cutest hamsters ever and they are really fun just watching them play.

i like teddy bear hamsters better because they are slower and easier to tame. but robo hamsters on the other hand are fast and tiny and hard to tame. but their both cute :)

Most hamsters only have a lifespan of 2-3 years anyway. The smaller they are, the less time they'll live also.

What kind of cage do you have?  Some smaller hamsters can't go in cages with bars, since they are so small, they can slip through (it sounds impossible, but it isn't).  If you want a smaller hamster, make sure you have a bin cage.  Don't get a hamster that's too big or too small for the tubes (if you have any).  I had a teddy bear hamster, which was perfect for my cage.
