I'm 15 and "emo", as people call me...

I want a hamster that would be rather spunky, ONLY during the day,

I don't want it waking me up. :[

I just want one so I can have a friend that I can play with and talk to.

I also can't let him get lost NO MATTER what.

also, the cage cannot be very big, but I want him/her to be happy.

help?

answers are appriciated. :]

  1. first of all, all hamsters are nocturnal with the occasional "get out for a minute to eat/drink" (some for longer than others.) second of all, there is no way for a hamster to be in a small cage and be "happy." i don't think a hamster sounds like a very good pet for you. Maybe try a lizard

  2. ummm well hamsters are happy, so maybe it will make you un-"emo". hehehehe

Ok well hamsters are nocturnal, but sometimes I wake mine up in the day. But i would suggest a teddy bear hamster. They are adorable and good first hamsters. Maybe a black bear one(or just one that's black) because i consider that "spunky"

But honestly and truthfully I don't think a hamster would be best for you... unless you willing to adjust to their "needs". Don't get a small cage please, your hamster will be very unhappy if you do.

  3. Well...i am 13 and "Emo" (As people call me to) and i have a Teddy Bear hamster...I also have a Siberian and a Blueberry Dwarf...but i love teddy bear hamsters they give me company...and what i do is i bought the crittertrail two and it is quiet! :) It is like running in air...it doesn't make a sound...

  4. Hamsters are not nocturnal, but they are most active around dawn and dusk and mostly sleep during the day, only getting up every once in a while to eat and drink.

For living space, a large tank with a mesh top is the best or any hamster. The living space should be as big as possible and have multiple food and water sources. Hamsters cannot escape from tanks, and for wire cages, you should make sure the entrance is closed all the way. You should also check for openings in the living space regularly.

Hamsters can make excellent companions, but you will need to meet and surpass their needs for them to be happy, and live a good life.

  5. if you do some Internet searches on basic hamster behavior and care you will learn that they are nocturnal creatures.

you can keep the cage in another room at night. there is no control over a hamster and exactly when you want him to be spunky.....make sure it does have an ample sized cage so it doesn't get bored and has lots of places to go....

get a hamster ball for him to run in too. a good sized one.
