During the day yuh would sit with mummy and watch either My Three Sons, I Dream of Jennie, or Bewitch followed by Community Dateline.

Then in the Summer/August holidays time you excited because TV starting at 2 pm with Thunderbirds, Top Cat and/or Flinstones before Seasame Street start again.

  1. I remember watching Danger Mouse with my cousins. And watching Panorama at 7 with my grandfather and when we did not have school I do remember watching Community Dateline while we ate lunch,(I think the host name was Allison) didn't TV sign off after that? Well after all that my grandmother used to make us take a rest, everybody saying they not tired but 10 mins later we all knocked out.

  2. I remember Sunday while eatnig lunch takin in the Indian movie on local t.v cuz NOTHING better for drama than them movies!!!

Scounting for talent... remember you're supposed to say SCRUNting for talent...

On saturday .... party time and party flava!!!

  3. TS...ah does ask meh self them questions boy. What happen? Long time was so nice and harmonious and now is ah different story.

Just like everybody, was seasame street in the morning and evening. Ah used to crack up on grover and the big head blue man. And forgetful jones was meh boy. After that is cartoon boy, smurfs, she-ra, fraggle rock, jetsons, flinstones, danger bay, super gran, dr. who. And nights is News, and McGyver, A-Team, Knight Rider, Fall Guy, Bionic Man etc etc. Weekend TV time was by meh neighbour. Saturday ah watching cartoon until meh mudder buss to cuss in me a$$ to get up and do something. Sunday ah by the neighbour watching Indian Variety, The Indian Movie and eating she macaroni pie (which ah the love love).

Boy times change yes. TV get cheap.

  4. Seasme Street was a must!  That show had some real big soundtracks!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thunderbirds, He-Man and She-Ra, Smurfs, Pink Panther (my grandfather's favourite) Tom and Jerry, Popeye (come to think of it Olive wasn't easy nah) Christmas time Sound of Music (every year as a rule) Jack and the Beanstalk, Wizard of OZ,

Local Soap Operas were a big hit long time as well - Men of Grey, Calabash Alley, etc.

Also Knight Rider was a favourite

  5. I agree but l lost my appetite for Sesame Street after they start to say Ernie and Bert g*y!

Saturday evening while Tanty baking bread and seasoning up chicken for Sunday, she bubblin ah pot ah pelau with the bony pieces ah chicken because is soup every Saturday and thank goodness daddy ain't want no soup in the evening too. While she doing that l watching boxing and wrestling with Thunderbolt and Jovica with my dad. We would watch Mastana Bahar, especially "pic ah pan"! Somewhere in that mix used to be MIghty Isis and Wonder woman not forgetting Big Ben.

Sunday after Sunday school, is ah 3hrs long Indian movie all of us watching together waiting for niggaritis to set in after that eight-dish menu Tanty lovingly put together.

    The children nowadays..........Nil outside experience.................

Pitch ah marble, play hopscotch, moral, scootch, climb ah mango tree, eat ah cashew and roast the seed. August holidays go by ah uncle up in the country side and experience the outdoors.

Now is ah concrete jungle, video games take over, imagine ah best seller is Grand theft auto!!! Yuh have to "buy" mango now and cashew nuts selling on the high way by them Bongo dread men and them and yuh getting about 8 nuts split in 2 for $5!! I ain't care what nobody say, we had it Nice!!

  6. TS you forget Dynasty.  i remember when my mom finally allowed me to watch dat, i was feeling really grown up by thn, cause you know Dallas, Dynasty and Falcon Crest was big people show!!!

boy i remember even in secondary school  going home to watch Sesame Street at 4pm.  Those were the good ole days.

thunder cats(?) with Lionel and Shetrara, He-man and She-Ra, Smurfs (lord i loved smurfs) and Fraggle Rock with Red. and Fat Albert - the cartoon.  Superfriends.

Saturday evening was Mastana Bahar and Scouting for Talent (Crix, Crix for everyone) in d night.  and sunday morning was Indian Variety and d Indian Movie dat finishing some time after 12.  Boy i used to love the death scene - 10 minutes to die why she tells her whole life story. Now that was a true classic.

But talking about Sesame Street...yesterday morning my cousin (2 yrs) was watching Plaza Sesame (the new Sesame Street - in Spanish of all things).  so his mom, my other cousin (27) and I were watching with him, and dey had Kermit singing "Dowop Dowop Hop! dowop dowop Dont Stop" and all three of us singing along with the song..d child SLOWLY turn around and watch us like 'wha d h**l wrong with allyuh? dat is not what d people singing, and why all of allyuh singing d wrong thing together????lololol.

    ***********

trish thanks eh, whole day i trying to remember A-team

  7. LOL! Top Cat! Oh Gosh, what was that show again...Fall Guy, I think? Between that, Knight Rider and A-Team me and all meh cousins was SET!

Boy, I cud remember when TV for me was Sesame Street in the morning, then TV come off, Sesame Street again at four then one half hour comedy after dinner, about eight o clock. Like every night was a different one too; Golden Girls, Three's Company, Allo Allo, Nell, Alf, Different Strokes and dem. I also remember when the big people had Dallas, Falcon Crest an ting and I was soooo vex when meh big cousins (when dey came tuh spen de night) got to stay up in Mom's room and watch it and I get send tuh bed early! Cartoons on Saturday mornings was the BEST back then too! Getting up at six seven o clock to watch Smurfs and s****.-Doo!

And yuh know Auntie Hazel and Mastana was de boss.

I think the best thing about TV then was that everything was family friendly and the whole family (Tantie and Granny and everybody) cud real have fun with it. Now, is like yuh say...everybody have dey own tv and how many shows these days you could really sit down and watch wit yuh chile? Or even let them watch by deyself!

It sad eh. Thank goodness for Nick at Nite and Boomerang...at least we could still find some good tv, even if we have tuh go back 20, 30 years or so tuh find it.

  8. my mother reminisces bout this everyday, back to when life was simple..

everybody to busy now, flippin direct tv channels, chatting on ell phones, surfing the net, ps2 in everychild room(yes, i havent upgraded yes, when i complete God of War, i will)
