What happen to the sunrise clock which set it self increment to sun rise all season long?

This clock set it by varying the input cycle of ac current from 70 cycles in winter to 50 cycles in summer. This article appear in S F Chorinlce sunday edition in 1999.

And who would want one and how would one change the AC cycles, which are ultra carefully locked to each other across the country.   We abandoned rising with the sun and starting the day at sunrise long ago and why would anyone want to mess up the hours all day to keep in sync?   It didn't sell and the company dumped it.   Easy to do with a computer driven digital display to mark sunrise and sunset on a fixed clock. http://www.srrb.noaa.gov/highlights/sunr...
