What happened in the olympics when a guy who won a medal went onto the podium then left during the middle of the ceremony to hand out medals and dropped his medal on the floor on purpose. I saw the end of the story on television and wanted to know more about t.

  1. I would guess that, that athlete would be disqualified, and the runners up move up one spot.  If the same episode happens, the event is scrapped for the standings.  And the medals are returned to the treasury.

Of course, if there is time, you could always run the ceremony, as long as someone accepts the medal for the event, and who was in the event.

  2. it was a guy from sweden! i think the story os on yahoo somewhere.. look on your top stories in the home page... but all in all... the coach told him he didnt win b/c of politics! so after winning the silver in athens he was going for gold in beijing. and due to politics he looses his match! so he threw it on the ground saying i dont want that... i wanted gold!!!

  3. To make a long story short, he had a discussion with a judge for what he considered poor judging in his semifinal match. He was unhappy with the bronze, so he dropped it and left.

I guess his sportsmanship is questionable, but that's more or less how the story went.

  4. ya..I was watching a judo match online last night..they had the crowd decide the winner
