  1. A few bad shots got in your head and you couldn't pull out of it. Don't fret, happened to all of us.

If this happens again, you NEED to find a way to clear your head. It's hard, and nothing I tell you can do it, you just need to find a way. For me, I like to "explode", get it out then clear my head.

If you had a bad front nine, focus on a good back nine. Don't fret on your score.

  2. Get yourself into the habit of a "pre shot routine" that helps, but as you said that normally your driver/Tee shots are good, when they start going down the drain, its usually a problem from what they call muscle memory, and timing, so go back to basics and relax, Never compensate for a shot, you'll just mess it up more.

I'm from south africa and i drink a Red Bull energy drink every time i go play golf, it helps for consentration and keeps your mind going, golf is all between the ears. So if you have such a drink in "where ever you from" try it out.

Another tip i can give you if you hitting a slice keep your hips square for longer then turn, eg: turn your hips at impact and vica versa for a big draw/hook problem.

  3. don't focus on any shot before you hit it. Just know that you are say 150 yards out, you have an eight iron in your hands, line up, and put a solid smooth swing on the ball. Bad days happen to all of us. Had you played the course before? Or did you just get any new clubs? Did you have a bad group? Don't take it too hard. Just do better next time. Forget every bad shot. Focus only on the coming good.

  4. i had a similar problem last year. First, dont say i have to make a 3 here, just focus on hitting a good drive, a good approach, and then putt. Secondly, play your game, dont try to play like your opponents. It is easy to get fooled into doing that if you play someone who shoots better than you. Also, dont try to muscle every approach, if you in between clubs, swing easier with the one that goes further. next, develop a pre shot routine, in which you are relaxed and confident when you are over the ball. I take 2 practice swings, walk in from behind the ball. set the club down, point my left toe and hit. Finally, this is the most important is read your putts. You'd be surprised how a long a pro takes to read, im not telling you to slow down the whole course cause your reading your putt, but just make sure you get a line, instead of just whacking it 15 feet by.

  5. don worry man jus do your best

  6. Great advice given - relax and work on a pre shot routine.  Use this same routine even on the range.

Mine:  I stand behind the ball and point at my target with my driver.  Focus on the target (not the trouble), then I pick a spot about 2 feet in front of my ball on the target line.  I take one solid practice swing feeling the weight of the clubhead saying "let the club do the work".  Then I align myself with that spot 2 feet away.  Check my grip, flex my knees and swing away.  Don't freeze up over the ball, you need to be loose and smooth.  A consistent pre shot routine signals your muscles that you want them to perform and can help you calm your nervousness.  Good luck at tryouts.

  7. Slow down,  just make sure you keep your head behind the ball and relax.
