  1. For the Americans it was the panic evacuation of the US embassy in Saigon when the last people were taken off the roof by helicopter and flown out to the US fleet.

Unfortunately they left behind lots of evidence of those Vietnamese who had helped them and the Vietcong were able to trace them.

  2. On 30th April 1975, VPA (Vietnam People's Army) troops overcame all resistance, quickly capturing key buildings and installations. A tank crashed through the gates of the Presidential Palace, and at 11:30 a.m. local time the NLF (National Front for the Liberation of South Vietnam, also known as the Viet Cong) flag was raised above it. South President Nguyen Van Thieu's successor, President Duong Van Minh, attempted to surrender, but VPA officers informed him that he had nothing left to surrender. Minh then issued his last command, ordering all South Vietnamese troops to lay down their arms.

  3. Wego, way to go!

  4. I guess it depends on what you think was the last day. Most people think the last day was April 30, 1975, when the US Embassy was stormed and desperate people were clinging to helicopters trying to leave. On that day, Saigon was being swept by North Vietnamese forces causing panic throughout the city. Much violence continued for the next few weeks as South Vietnam fell, but most people regard that day as the last day of the 10,000 day war.
