  1. They established a hip-hop label called "Apes R Us" from which they earned a fortune and lived out their years in luxury in a Banana Republic.

  3. Able had to have an infected electrode surgically removed and died in surgery on June 1, 1959.  He is preserved at the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum.  Baker died in the mid 80's and was buried in Alabama at the US Space Center.  Poor Able didn't have much time to enjoy being back on earth.

    28th  May, 1959 marked the first successful recovery of living creatures after their return to earth from outer space.

    Able died on 1st June, 1959 from the effects of anesthesia given to allow the removal of electrodes implanted for the monkey's historic space flight.

    Monkey Baker was displayed years later at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center (USSRC) in Huntsville, Alabama. She died in 1984.
