Question:

What happened to Doyles?

I went to get some take away from Doyles on the weekend and was very disappointed to find that the it had changed. It use to be good value, but now the prices have gone up, serving sizes have decreased, and the quality seems to have dropped.

I purchased calamari and received something that I could have got from a seafood store in Granville and for half the price.

I doubt that I will be giving my business to Doyle again. At least they still have the plum dipping sauce, albiet not with the calamari.

  1. I think Doyles is just a name now and is living off the reputation it had 20 years ago. It was the place to go back then when there were less outdoor eating areas beside the water and the food was excellent quality.

  2. I'm very disappointed but not surprised to read about your experience  at Doyle's. One of the best and most memorable meals I ever had was a seafood platter at Doyle's Watson's Bay about 10 years ago. I  suspect, like veg_hel that Doyle's have been living of their reputation for a long time now as I have heard several stories like yours.

  3. Why does your story not surprise me?
