  1. it only appeared in a couple of the books, i think.  the house elves didn't want to be liberated anyway.  


  2. The House Elves were upset by the whole thing and didn't want to be liberated.

  3. If i recall JKR said that she gets them fairer working conditions as an adult.  And it was S.P.E.W. (Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare), not house elf liberation front
