  1. played for the braves, then the orioles, stint with the red sox, back to the braves, retired :)

  2. I'm a Braves fan. I was really excited over the offseason when we re-signed Javy to a minor league contract after he took a year off. He worked hard to get in shape. He drew pretty big spring training crowds because fans love him...and for good reason! I love the guy too   :)    Was responsible for a lot of history here in Atlanta...

Anyways, he was competing for the chance to backup Brian McCann. Unfortunately he didn't make it. When the GM was informing him of this, Javy decided to retire, but he said how he was thankful the Braves gave him this chance, and that he was honored to retire as a Brave. Frank Wren (Atlanta's GM) said that he was honored as well to be the one to give him that chance, and that he will be remembered by the organization and the fans as one of the great Braves players in history   :)    Javy then had a big ovation from all of us in Atlanta because he threw out the first pitch for the Braves home opener (with John Smoltz catching ironically enough). I was there. It was a pretty cool moment    :)

  3. last offseason he signed a contract with the braves with an invite to spring training. then he retired after the braves cut him from their 40 man roster during spring training

  4. He's retired.

  5. What a great catcher. Yeah he was cut one year and decided to go into retirement. I miss him too.
