  1. Catherine Parr was Henry VIII's last wife, and outlived him.  She married Thomas Seymour after Henry's death and had her only child, a daughter (Mary) who didn't live far past her second birthday.

Mary would not have been in direct line to the throne as she was not the child of the monarch, but as Thomas Seymour was a Baron there may have been a very tenuous claim through his line.  Had Mary had kids whose descendants survived today, the link to the monarchy of 500 years ago would be so diluted i probably would have a stronger claim!

  2. According to the texts I've read the little girl died as a baby. As she was the child of Thomas Seymour, she would not have been in line for the throne - although had they lived he may have tried to marry her off to his nephew Edward! - and as Thomas was attainted for treason, she would also have been very poor and lacking in influence.

  3. All evidence points to Mary Seymour having died as a child.

As the child of Thomas Seymour, Lord Seymour of Sudeley (and maternal-uncle to Edward VI), and Catherine Parr, Queen Dowager, she certainly had royal connections, but she was not royalty herself.

Mary was left virtually penniless when her father was attainted and executed for treason as her mother had left her entire fortune to him.

She was taken into the household of her mother's friend, Catherine Brandon, the Dowager Duchess of Suffolk (the last wife of Charles Brandon, Duke of Suffolk and husband of Henry VIII's sister Mary). There are letters written by the Dowager Duchess to the Protector and his Council begigng for money to provide the little girl with the proper necessities, especially in light of her station in life.

Eventually the attainder was removed but her father's lands were still crown property.

Mary disappears from the records after her second birthday and in light of her station and potential wealth it seems most likely she passed away. Agnes Strickland, the Victorian writer, relates a tale that she did survive and married an Edward Bushel who was a member of Anne of Denmark's household. There's also a tale that she went to Wexford to live with the Hart family who had connections to her father through some of his less than legal dealings and agreements with Irish pirates.
