What happened to Kevin Richardson in BSB?

Why is he not in back with all of them in their new album? I really liked him, but why is he not there? Did he leave or refuse to join? And will he maybe join later or probably not?

Leaving to pursue other interests, Richardson released a statement and said, "After 13 years of what can only be described as a dream come true, I have decided that it is time to leave the Backstreet Boys. It was a very tough decision for me but one that was necessary in order to move on with the next chapter of my life."
