Does anyone know what happened to the MTA 1train @96th street station at 6:25pm, May 5th, 08?

I took the express train to 96th street and would like to trasfer to the 1 train to the 125th street. When I arrived the station, i saw there was a evacuation of the 1 train. Everyone was asked to leave the train and the train was vacant later. Anyone knows what happened? I told my friends about this and they dont believe me. Is there anyone on the train when the incident happened? I would like to find someone who is the witness and can tell me what happened.

Thanks for your patient......

  1. I don't think anyone will be able to give you any specifics but form what you describe it is possible that the #1 train in the station was experiencing mechanical problems (such as doors not closing completely, brakes not working properly, motors on some cars not operating [making for a slow train]).  It could any of those or it could be for other reasons that required the train to be taken out of service.

Things like that happen every so often.  Most people grumble a bit but patiently wait for the next train (or the one after that).

Your friends don't believe you?  That is their problem.

  2. There is no way find out. If it was big incident, it shows on TV.

MTA always have problem like stalled train, signal problems, and passenger fall in truck, due to police activity, or track employees got killed by G train due to emergency construction work, or fainted passenger, etc.
