Question:

What happened to Market Quotes headline?

Until yesterday, every quotes and portfolio page in Yahoo Finance had a headline with the major market indices quotes, if you had that option checked. Now that has disappeared from all my quotes and portfolio pages and I want it back!

  1. They lost it on portfolio pages.  It's still visible when viewing "Options", "Historical prices", "Basic Chart", "Headlines", etc...  I read that they are trying to get it fixed.  They must have started their Summer internship program early at Yahoo!

  2. You're right... it has disappeared, it does stink....just hope this is an "oops" and they will "un-break" it, but who knows....

  3. I, too, immediately missed the market index headline and have posted my feelings elswhere on this site.  Other changes have turned Yahoo from the outstanding site that I have been using for years to something much less. Why?

I can't really answer that question; I can only add my own disappointment to yours that Yahoo changed, without warning, the format of FINANCE which has served us so well. The new format is far inferior to what we had before. Perhaps someone can tell us how to collectively register our disapproval with Yahoo so that they will switch back to the old format that all of us want.

IF IT AINT BROKE, DON'T FIX IT !!

  4. Change your URL to: http://sg.finance.yahoo.com/p?v&k=pf_1

Yahoo Singapore seems to be the closest to what we used to have since it has the "Set Alert" link next to "Create Transaction History" in the lower left.  This works for now, but the chances are that corporate will eventually cram their "New and Improved" format down everybody's throat, worldwide.  Sounds like a classic "Dilbert Syndrome" with too many pointy-haired bosses. . .

The view that existed before this one worked just fine - you could print a portfolio with about 40 entries on it with IE7 by selecting the stuff you wanted, go to print preview, view as selected on screen, adjust size scaling, landscape format and you got a nice spreadsheet-type printout for your historical records all on one page.  The new view effectively double-spaces the data lines and you must shrink the effective font smaller in order to fit it on one page.

Personally, I liked the previous portfolio printouts that I used to make because they came out in a very nice table with solid black header labels, block printed like an Excel spreadsheet.

One can only hope that they will look at all of the negative comments that have been posted about the "New View."
