What happened to Misty on the Pokemon Diamond and Pearl season?

My little sister watches this show all the time and she says that Misty is not on the show any more, but Brock is. Does anyone know why Misty isn't on the show any more?

    I know she became the gym leader at Cerulean, but that's it.
