  1. Because Israel wants it so.

  2. 1948 the united nations declared Isreal a country as well as Jordan. Isreal expanded its borders during the the 1967 war created what is now called the occupied territories the west bank Gaz and the golam heights. Supposedly there is a roadmap for a 2 state solution. There is a recignized palestinian authority which has some control over the west bank and the unregonized Hamas which controls Gaza there are frequent Isreali raids into Gaza ans a blockade and they conreol the seas and the skies the West bak is slightly better off but stiil impoverished and surrounded. To be fair the palestinians have bot helped themselves by firing rockets into Isreal and conducting bombings often on civilians

  3. I don't understand the latest political intrigue but many Palestinians consider it still there .

  4. Clever, and of course the rational amongst us now want to have both states on the map.  As a teacher, I suspect you know the history of Palestine from multiple perspectives.

As you know, when the British withdrew from Palestine in 1948, creating the first opportunity for an independent state there in recent history, the U.N. drew up and approved a plan to partition Palestine into a tiny Jewish state and a much larger Arab state.  The Palestinian Arabs did not accept this independent Palestine, preferring to go to war with the nascent Jewish state.  Jordan grabbed part of what was meant to be a Palestinian Arab state, Egypt grabbed another part, and Palestine was essentially wiped off the map by fellow Arabs.

When the entire Arab world attacked Israel in 1967, with the intent of wiping it off the map much like your eraser, they failed.  Israel not only defended itself but advanced far enough to take the west bank and Gaza.  For years, Israel tried to give this land back to Egypt and Jordan in exchange for a peace treaty.  When this failed, the nightmare of occupation of the past 40 years began.

    Ottomans colonize Palestine

    British colonize Palestine

Palestine is partitioned into Jewish and Arab states

Arabs refuse to accept a Palestinian state

    Palestine goes off the map

Arabs try to wipe Israel off the map and fail

Israel graps West Bank and Gaza to try to negotiate land for peace.  Israelis get frustrated after years of this failing, and elect a government that starts settling the occupied territories.  40 years of occupation ensue.

Occupation is a nightmare, as per Jupiter above.

Hopefully a two-state solution is negotiated soon, if extremists on both sides don't keep sabotaging it.

In our dreams, Israel and Palestine exist side by side in peace.

  5. The Palestinian people were made nation less in 1948 by the UN they were then forced to march of their land by European Jews that were relocated there as Europe felt guilty for the holocaust

  6. In this country it is called 'squatters rights' !

When you cleaned the board it was Palestine that went, just leaving Israel ! It's amazing what good PR can get you !
