One of my friends told me that he retired, then last night someone told me that he went to Elite.

So what happened to the Maniac (Maine-iac)?

  1. he mostly likely went to fight somewhere els

  2. He's gone to a new promotion called Affliction...He's fighting Fedor next week.

  3. he should have retired because he is gonna get slaughtered against fedor.

  4. u like ufc?  sylvia went to affliction because dana white doesn't give the fighters chances often to get a title.  look at chuck liddell he lost his title and he hasn't got the chance to get it back.

  5. He signed on with Affliction, a new fight promotion. He is going to fight Fedor Emenianenko next Saturday (July 19) for the first WAMMA title. Fedor is considered the number one heavyweight fighter.

  6. Affliction and he fights fedor this coming sat.

  7. Yes he went elswhere.  He signed with Adrenaline, which is formerly M-1 Global. While under this contract he can fight basically independent of any one promotion, which is probably best for him.

Dana White had nothing to do with Sylvia's slow, sorry, white behind not getting another title shot.  Sylvia's slow feet, clumsy non-existant take downs, and his unwillingness to fight real fighters kept him from being anything productive after he lost the belt to that stiff, Nogueira .  The only reason he repetedly fought Arlovski is because Arlovski was found out by Sylvia to have a glass jaw, which nobody else could expose for some odd reason (I guess a 90 inch reach helps expose things like that).  Even at the end of the last Arlovski fight (and the Monson fight) Sylvia ran like a scared school girl once he realized he was up on points.

I think Sylvia would love to be back in UFC, but he certainly needs to fix his heart if he wants to be the top, even if that's at the top of the sorry heavyweight heap in UFC (The worst heavyweight class in all of MMA, other than "Joe's crab shack/Saturday night MMA promotions").

Good luck to him, but I'll never shell out hard earned cash to see any pay per view that this stiff is headlining, unless it's a dual main event with someone who can carry a card, or unless I know he's going to get exposed and owned like Couture did to him.  He can't hang with real fighters, so he's probably where he belongs.
