Its been a long time since we have had a good funny satirical movie. Nothing like a good Mel Brooks movies or Monty python type movies. Have people become so politically correct and sensitive that satire has become a no-go? Id love to see spaceballs 2, or any real funny movie. h**l, I might even take a new naked gun movie, and i hate naked gun.

  1. Blazing Saddles almost immediately comes to mind because it was great movie. Unfortunately, I think those days are over.

  2. first of all monty python isn't really satire if you're from the united states, because it almost exclusively plays upon british cultural norms.  i mean, yea, technically it is satirical, but to us, it isn't, unless you happen to be steeped in knowledge of the british class system and its extensive quirks.

this is why the vast majority work monty python produced is not actually funny.  it was innovative, and its stylistic influence is felt today in american comedy, but its satirical component requires preexisting knowledge in the viewer, knowledge that almost always absent if you are an american, especially a younger american.

mel brooks is indeed a legend in this department.

check out the movies of christopher guest if for some reason you haven't seen them (though you probably have)

  3. i think people now a days can't appreciate good satire, instead we get movies like Date Movie, Meet the Spartans, Disaster Movies etc.

problem is as long as there are people willing to pay to see these movies they will keep making them

  4. Here are some new ones that you might enjoy.

"Borat: Cultural learinings of America for make benefit glorious nation of Kazakhstan"

    Bamboozled

    Bullworth

    Best in Show

    Idiocracy

    A Mighty Wind

    American Movie

You are right..i would kill for another film like Men in Tights, History of the World or Monty Python Movies.

Ignore the dumb answer below me..he think "A large portion of Monty Python" is not funny....well..if you have low IQ you cant understand it..theres your problem.

  5. "Borat" was the last, and I loved it, especially the version of the national anthem he sang at the rodeo.

Most of my questions and answers are satirical, and no one "gets it."  Maybe there's simply no market--or not a large enough one--for that sort of thing anymore.

    "Young Frankenstein" was the best.

  6. Yes, I'm sorry to say, but we have became to PC as a society for there to ever be another amazing satire movie.  All you get now is Scary Movie, Epic Movie, etc..........   There will never be another Blazing Saddle type movie, which I guess is what you're really asking about mentioning Mel Brooks.  A pity too, because even taking away the obvious racial offenses from the movie,  it's still freaking hilarious!

  7. I heard Tropic Thunder was funny.  You should go see that.
