  1. Perhaps the "old music now" is the most requested by the listeners.  Surely the stations use some sort of rating, kinda' like TV ratings.

  2. money

  3. Because they can sell the older classic rock to more people than the newer rock even though I know many older people who also listen to new rock..go figure

But also stations when you "grew up" were more of a top 40/rock stations playing all the hits... mostly called AOR... however most of those stations either never updated and bacame classic rock stations or became oldies stations to keep up with listeners hankering for the same music

  4. Old music is usually the best... Like Metallica!

  5. First, you have to remember that the radio business is in the advertising business also, so music is not their 1st priority even though you would think that it would be!

Second, the lady above is right.  They have to play what people are listening to. That's how they stay in business.  If the public is requesting a certain sound at the time..then that's what they play.

As long as the listeners are staying tuned-in because they are hearing what they love then the stations can advertise and make money in hind-site....they now have an audience to sell too.

  6. i dont know

  7. Right now at this time, since it is memorial day weekend, I know that a lot of stations are just playing the older songs for this weekend. That might be a reason.

But I agree with the answers above.
